Ezra & Gil, Newton Street, Manchester

Ezra & Gil, Manchester - A Laid Back Coffee Experience.

Situated on the busy corner of Hilton street and Newton street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Ezra & Gil is our coffee house of choice in this area. Earthy design, laid back attitude, good coffee and late opening makes this an ideal stop off on your way home (if you live or work in Manchester of course).

Our delight of choice is the large cappuccino, served in a mug rather than a 12oz cup (we’ll forgive that) the coffee is full flavoured, nice foam and served at a drinkable temperature. You get a choice of chocolate sprinkles or not on your cappuccino, we always go without as we’d rather enjoy the coffee.

The service can be a little slow and but chaotic, but that just adds to the laid back atmosphere of Ezra’s, and the background music is normally of some slightly obscure indie or alternative band.

The main downfall of Ezra’s are the cakes/brownies they serve. Admittedly we always get there after 4pm so the cakes have probably been standing out all day, but they are always a little dry and disappointing, so we now always steer clear of any food there.

So to quickly round up, Ezra’s is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Manchester, but steer clear of the cakes if late afternoon.

We give it a seven coffee bean rating.
